They both have the same basis of eternal reward/punishment system though Islam is about obedience to authority for reward and Christianity is all about sin and guilt, and ultimately obedience to the authority that will alleviate all this. It's not literally from anything supernatural but I think it came from something deep in the human psyche. I'm not entirely sure what that is exactly, but that's my view of it. Religion in general I don't mind though there certain aspects of the two most prominent ones I find distasteful. Particularly anything to do with an eternal Hell. I don't mind the Old Testament so much as that's never mentioned in it. Ironically the 'nicer' part of the Bible with Jesus is the worst part of it because that's when that whole eternal torment thing comes into play. Even the Quran isn't quite as bad as apparently Allah lets you out if he thinks you've roasted in the fire long enough.
