Loads of episodes of this anime are middle of the road and not engaging at all. It was a chore going through parts of this anime. That reason alone makes it not the best. Frieren is a good show dont get me wrong, i love the art writing but it's not perfect and i wouldnt even put it my top 15 best series of all time. the reason i suspect it got such a rabid fanbase is the types of people who act that way over the show is cause they've watched nothing but slop their whole lives. low quality isekai slop, imagine you ate mcdonalds your whole life the first man to give you sushi is going to feel like your personal messiah. Most of the fanbase the ones who watched anime pre-covid are descent enough but the tourists are actually insufferable.

I agree with the sentiment that it’s not a bad show at all, it’s even quite good but NOWHERE EVEN CLOSE to the best or even the top 10 best anime of all time. I don’t understand the level of praise it’s receiving compared to other shows I’m just confused by what metric or standards people are using to judge this show when it’s just a moderately respectable above average anime.
