I kinda agree with @Zensfy and @Dregster666 here, inceldom makes it hard to be popular like Chad, but how do you explain how ugly dudes having friends of some sort as very common, while them getting girlfriends is not? Inceldom makes being popular out of reach, but not friends.
I think of sex as more of a physical act, and when it comes to mate selection, looks are the primary determining factor. Meanwhile, with friendship, most people choose friends based on, unironically, their personality. Usually a total lack of friends implies poor social skills, while lack of sex implies ugliness. If someone can't get sex due to poor social skills, (autism is a factor) that is what is a "mentalcel", which is often called "cope" on this forum (in many cases it is imo). What % of dudes here do you think are incel due to poor social skills as opposed to ugliness? What % is autistic?

Being popular is having high social status, which is attained from both being highly NT and having good looks. There hasn't been a time where I remember an ugly person being popular in social circles. You're right that inceldom makes being popular out of reach, but not friends. But the person you've quoted (uggo) didn't say inceldom makes finding friends impossible, only difficult.
Inceldom is a subset of loserdom, which clearly lowers your standing in the social hierarchy. This, by default, makes friendships hard to build, because you have low social status (or none at all).
