Art thread

These are all pretty good. Well, except for the fourth one, but that's not really a big deal since it seemed like you clearly have artistic skill as soon with the others and it was more of a fun sketch than anything I suspect, but as soon with the others you can clearly express color quite well unlike someone like me.
But more onto the others, I definitely like the 3rd and the 5th the most, the one with the Red Panda and the Asian woman with the mask, if I'm correct. Those have the strongest technique and visual draw, at least for me personally. Especially with the third regarding color, proportions, line work, and physical technique in general. Although that's more of a bias from me as I generally, more often than not, prefer physical artwork to digital, as I find it more impressive, both on a technical and visual level, and both these demonstrate that. The eyes and the fur especially pop out, and the inclusion of background, if simple, is always appreciated and really works out to complete the piece. It's nice, simple, and clean. Nothing more is quite needed, I would say, as you achieved what you set out to do. Although my personal favorite of the bunch, your fifth, may not stand out as much immediately to the eye, but on closer inspection, its value is clear to see; the reflections from the light and the simple but effective direction of the piece with the woman’s foot arching back, giving a clear direction for the eye to follow from the ground to the top of the counter as you spread out along it, seeing the entire structure. It may not be the most fantastical, creative, or competently constructed artwork ever crafted, that’s for sure, but I definitely appreciate it for what it is. A simple but effective piece that captures a scene from your mind onto the paper for all to see and grasp, and hopefully enjoy.
Regarding the first two, with the former being more "clean" and fleshed out, it definitely could be argued in the other way. But as I said, it's more of a general thing, and there are those digital works that surpass their original physical counterparts. Both have their respective strengths, know, like in the original with her face, all those pen lines really bring out the value and texture, albeit at the slight cost of her looking a little old, but maybe that's just me. The same can be said for the rest, with the clothes and the soda cup. I think it's ultimately really up to the individual to decide which they prefer, but it also depends on what your original intent was with the piece. We are just left with the guesswork, but that can be interesting in its own way.
The last one with the Dragon Ball character, Vegito, if I'm not mistaken, is probably my second least favorite of the bunch. I just don't find it as compelling as the rest personally, but it is still a strong work with the clear lines, color, and values. The proportions are appropriate, and the overall visual nature pops out to the eye, perhaps the second one someone might be drawn to aside from the red raccoon in terms of color and structure. It’s competent but unremarkable, is the conclusion I would have to draw. Similar to what most typical artists would draw, even I would do with my own favorite characters from other creators. And there’s nothing wrong with that, it’s perfectly fine, but I just find the other works to be more remarkable and visually and conceptually compelling, but that’s just me personally.
Overall, you all clearly demonstrated quality work from the five pieces you’ve shown and the skills and mind behind them. I definitely appreciated seeing them and wouldn’t mind seeing more if you would be willing to showcase them. And I also have to apologize for taking so long to comment in the first place, as I wished to gather my thoughts, as I’m not exactly a professional art critic, nor am I proficient at writing either. I’m simply a guy giving my thoughts to someone who took the time out of his day to create some fine artwork and show it to others, which, once again, I appreciate.
So, well done, and keep up the good work.
Thanks! And sure!

And honestly, I kinda agree on what you had to say on my pieces, I kinda liked the red panda and the Chinese woman the most.

And the first two pics were a gift for my High School Teacher, though I like the digital one somewhat better, though it was just me planning how I'm going to draw it on paper. Lol

You're welcome, and no problem. Seeing good artwork is always appreciated.
I see, that's interesting. Was it a drawing of the High School teacher herself? If so, I'd say you did a good job. I find it notable that you used the digital one to draw the physical version instead of it being the other way around, like other artists, which is also something I do myself.
Still, both are definitely good, regardless, I just find the physical one to be alluring visually in terms of it being more "authentic" or having that gravitas and weight behind it.
If you share any more artwork, I'd be more than happy to give my thoughts again, as you are definitely a skilled and talented artist and having a far superior understanding of color than I do, as I am forced to merely use black and white values myself. It's fine, but it does get a bit boring after a while, lacking the color and pizzaz of life, so to speak.

It is of her. And thank you! And I get it. I can't begin to remember the many times I'd stare at it and all that. Lol

And gladly!

To be honest, I only started using color a few years ago when I was in the crisis unit. So, perhaps it'll come to you in due time.

I see. I can definitely understand why. I had a few teachers like that, too. Unfortunately, I don't think I could draw that well from memory. My brain isn't built for that.
Perhaps, maybe, although even if so, I doubt it would be to the same level as you or others. But complaining won't get anywhere, and you discover your limits until you try, but I do wish I were a bit more artistically talented, as it would make things easier and less strenuous. Not to say I never enjoy it, but there are times of frustration and doubt.
I look forward to your any other artwork you plan on showing, and the best of luck with that.

If it makes you feel better, I'm about same; had to use a ridiculous amount of resource images, and all I wanted to do was scream...

But yeah, you've said it! You never discover your limits until you try. I don't know how long you've been drawing, but I did see a few of your pieces, and I'd say... you have just as much, if not more potential than I do.

And I think with your mindset, you've got what it takes to break your limits, as you hit your breaking point.

I'm not sure if it's bad or not, but it kinda does help knowing I'm not alone in that. But still, it hurts seeing the god-tier artists out there who can draw literally blind folded or using their feet or literally have printer-like accuracy, it's crazy. But it shouldn't be surprising. This life and world is mog or be mogged, not just in terms of looks, but every aspect of life as well.

And thanks for the nice words, even if I'm not sure if they hold true, heh. I do appreciate it, though. I do try, and I have gotten a lot better over time, so it's definitely not impossible, it's only a matter of time and will, although we all have our limits, either from one or both of those factors.
I definitely want to get better and make something truly good or noteworthy. People like you do help with motivation, honestly, so it's appreciated.
I'll try to cook something up to show later, hopefully sooner rather than later.
