Serious Why does makeup appeal to the eye?

It always fascinated me how something so artificial manages to somehow hit our brains in the right spots and trigger lust. You would expect to be repulsed by it just as many do from unnatural hair colors, tattoos, piercings etc.
Are there any studies that succeed in explaining this bizarre phenomena? Or at least provide solid theories?

They cover up imperfections which makes them more attractive.
If they overdo it it doesn't look natural at all anymore and that is what makes them ugly again.

I don't like makeup. Natural all the way for me.

I don't like anything artificial on girls. Be it makeup, unnatural hair, unnatural tan, piercings, tattoos, any type of body modification, any type of hypertrophy, etc. Even shaved pubes are not my preference, unless the foid is extremely hairy like a man, going down their thighs, etc, I want everything natural.

We are programmed to pursue health and fertility. Makeup evens out skin tone and obfuscates imperfections caused by poor modern diet that makes women look unhealthy / infertile. If you see a truly beautiful woman, makeup will not make her more attractive because there is little or no imperfection to hide.

You said it yourself.It makes them look feminine, but there nothing stopping you from using makeup as long as nobody notices.
Also men aren't supposed to be beautiful like girls.

it covers flaw, but try to see beyond that even if its hard you know her face is fake dont pay attention where it isnt needet

Putting expensive dirt on your face to make your only redeeming quality amplified can attract a lot of Chads rather than their natural look which we have to live with 24/7.
