It's very odd these days because I feel like most games make it very difficult to meet new people as most people play with people they already know IRL, or at least from other places online.
I was watching a Roblox video recently and the youtuber said something like "OK so you'll need to have some friends around you for this" and like... there was really no need to put in some joke about not having friends because EVERYONE on Roblox has friends. It's so easy to meet people there.
Phantasy Star Online/Universe and Second Life were the same way. It was basically impossible to play them and not make friends.
