What online games is it easy to meet new people in?

It's very odd these days because I feel like most games make it very difficult to meet new people as most people play with people they already know IRL, or at least from other places online.

I was watching a Roblox video recently and the youtuber said something like "OK so you'll need to have some friends around you for this" and like... there was really no need to put in some joke about not having friends because EVERYONE on Roblox has friends. It's so easy to meet people there.

Phantasy Star Online/Universe and Second Life were the same way. It was basically impossible to play them and not make friends.

I have hard time to do this in modern games. I have met almost all my friends while playing L4D1/2 and TF2. Some were found in PSO2 but i lost contact with them as i stopped playing as they moved to FF14. Maybe that game could be your salvation but it's probably filled with troons and foids justl ike wow In Enlisted i get constantly added to the friends list as i'm that good at the game but i don't really care about playing with anyone.

Yes of course my social life would be absolutely nothing without online games!

But... it's definitely nice to at least have one place where making friends is really easy.

It makes you realise how many of the hurdles around making friends IRL aren't ubiquitous... it is possible to have environments where basically everyone can have friends.

Aw erm, it's not really about looking for salvation like that but... it's just something I'm curious about because the approach to this seems to have shifted a lot in gaming.

Recent additions like Matchmaking in pvp/pve games and Dungeon Finders in mmorpgs made making friends through natural means way much harder. Nowadays you either have to be really good or find random ppl on discord or in guild (they require discord too most of the time)

It does depend what games you play, but yeah most seem to be strongly moving away from encouraging new social connections for sure.

I do tend to select for games that are more sociable as I'm an extrovert so I like that kind of thing.

World of Warcraft Classic, because lot of the content requires lots of time spent and multiple players. I don't play it tho, the interface is way too outdated and leveling is so boring because player start with very few abilities to use and the enemies are brainless and mostly just auto attack and there is nearly 0 real interactivity with them

Oddly enough I made some very good online friends back when I played clash of clans , even to this day we update each other on life which is very nice

I think if you're playing an online game it's just nice to feel like it doesn't actively discourage social interaction.
