There's a vocal minority on here that seem to believe, with fanatical conviction, that women, for some reason, PREFER men with low IQs, who are low inhib. I'm about to take down this myth like Mohamed Atta took down the North Tower.
Now I'll preface this by saying: Face > everything. By logical extension, obviously if you were to compare a GOOD LOOKING low iq, low inhib thug, to an UGLY high IQ high inhib guy, they'll go for the good looking guy because...he's good looking. Yeah yeah, water is wet, but just needed to put this disclaimer here before someone assumes I think otherwise.
That out of the way, all things being equal, women most certainly prefer high IQ men to low IQ ones. As in if you had two men who looked identical, but one had an IQ of 80 the other had an IQ of 140, women would go for the latter, no question.
A good way to gauge what women want is to look at the female gaze. Romance novels geared towards women are a good example of this. In fiction, you can build an ideal love interest completely from scratch, so this is a good way to gauge what women want since fiction removes effectively all limits. Now...what are the the most common occupations of the male love interest in romance novels?
1) CEO/business tycoon
2) Doctor/surgeon
3) Military special forces (eg. SEAL)
4) Detective
5) Lawyer
6) Nobles/Dukes/Princes/Kings
Above average intelligence is baked into all of these occupations. Not only that, but within these novels, the man is portrayed as hyper-competent at their occupation, and in general. They're not just a regular lawyer, they're a hot shot famous one that can win even the most difficult cases. They're not just a detective, they caught numerous most wanted criminals. They're not just a surgeon, they're the top neurosurgeon in the country. etc.
It's true that in some of them the man is also a criminal, so you could make some argument about the "bad boy" thing...but he's never an impulsive low IQ one. He's a corrupt businessman, a slick, slimy lawyer, a vigilante who hunts down criminals that slipped through the cracks, or maybe he runs a criminal enterprise. But he's never some low IQ impulsive, low level thug that mugs people at the ATM. He's not high inhib, but not low inhib either. He's competent and calculating with his risk management.
Oh, and he's always good looking and tall too (H20 = H20).
