Hypothesis: Bed-sharing couples sleep better because of human touch. Human touch produces serotonin which is a precursor of melatonin, the hormone of sleep

Cortisol decreases and serotonin and dopamine increase following massage therapy


In studies in which cortisol was assayed either in saliva or in urine, significant decreases were noted in cortisol levels (averaging decreases 31%). In studies in which the activating neurotransmitters (serotonin and dopamine) were assayed in urine, an average increase of 28% was noted for serotonin and an average increase of 31% was noted for dopamine.

Serotonin is a neurotransmitter that is associated with relaxation, positivity, a sense of feeling good etc. It's the happiness drug of our body.

That must be why I still feel tired after 8 hours of sleep and 2.5mg of melatonin. God or Mother Nature must be cruel as fuck.

My sleep apnea will greatly shorten my life anyway so it all works out. I've only been awake 10 hours and I could sleep already.

Good post. I’m autistic and sleep like shit. I struggle to fall asleep, wake up a bunch of times throughout, and I wake up feeling horribly exhausted. Plus I’m naturally a night owl, so society messes up my sleep

The only reason I can sleep a full night is because of 1 of my antidepressants that makes me sleepy. If I'm visiting my parents, sober and I forgot to bring some I get about 1-3 hours of sleep

People today act like history or these ancient texts are all bogus or even outright evil but regardless of whether one buys the super natural stuff versus like this are more true then ever. Think about the owner class and those with hard assets like homes + stocks (etc) vs workers. More and more power has shifted from labor to capital.

Ancient wisdom from the Bible/confuscious/schopenhauer, Buddhism etc is also very based when it comes to men and women how the nature they have. Whereas modern society just lies to people that were the same and that women can do no wrong and that all problems are men’s fault.

I’ve noticed a lot of incels here either sleep 10 hours a day or struggle to get more than 5 hours of sleep. I was the latter but ever since I got my waifu sex doll and cuddle her every night, my sleep quality and duration has improved a lot. Also, have to say that nature is fucking cruel.

All I can do is cry while reading this. You don't need to scientifically justify a truth that we all know here. How painful it is to be deprived of the ultimate human touch. How I longed for it, how my body craves it every day. I just want to die.

I was diagnosed with autism in 2019 and had a terrible Xanax addiction and never really got rid of it tbh, I’m literally unable to sleep and sometimes I sleep for 12 hrs randomly… 7hrs feels like a nap and makes me actively suicidal if I have to wake up to attend a fuck ass unskippable class at 8 …
I took melatonin but it never really helped me lmao
