Well they claim to have made their own distro based on arch. Obviously I do not know what it looks like and how it performs in the benchmarks, but it is well known that true linux distros like vanilla arch can squeeze out more juice out of the hardware they have. The issue is compatibility with proprietary backend stuff in modern games. Honestly I do not think that Valve could fuck this up, all they need to do is work on the back end of Steam, slap a new background picture and use the stable kernel.
well i fucked around with many different versions of Proton on a Steam Deck, any game that actually used the CPU had pretty bad framerate, even games from 2010
Hey, I agree that the Steam Deck is / was underwhelming. That does not imply that they'll dish out a shit PC, just that they don't know how to make handheald devices. The whole appeal of this is its software anyhow.

Again, I whole heartedly agree with you. Given that they just announced this PC and that they have announced their OS like 10 years ago. They are bound to have done something with it in all of this time. Theoretically you could run it on an AMD small form factor PC.

i highly doubt it, It won't sell for below $650. People may as well make better PCs for cheaper than that.

All it needs to do is have 25% better performance than a piss station and steam's OS with pc games will make it sell well.
What emulation? They just ported the libraries from windows onto linux. That's why so many games run better, not worse
