Serious sam first encounter is so underrated, it's better than unmodded doom1/2. Definitely my favorite shooter for the Xbox, this is an amazing game to take turns playing if you have a (non romantic) partner too because some levels are funny and ridiculous so it's entertaining to see who can get past a part.

Also, Sam is badass

Why? TSE is basically just TFE 1.5. Very similar games.

The aesthetic was just unappealing to me I guess, like what the fuck were those smurfs, the annoying narration, and the cutscenes. Plus how much more cartoonish everything was

It's fun, but there are definitely a few areas that haven't aged well.

The frog room in Karnak for example.

Fortunately, the flamethrower was added in TSE and we were able to successfully dispose of those bastards.
