I've looked into what it could be, and it seems to be an Auditory Processing Disorder. Or at least a difference in brain functions compared to the average person.
In Auditory Processing Disorder, your ears may hear sounds just fine, but your brain has trouble interpreting them - especially speech.

At the same time, you can still be very sensitive to loud or sudden noises.

That can feel like:
- People sound like they’re mumbling or slurring
- You hear the sound, but it doesn’t click into meaning
- You need repetition, especially in noisy environments
At the same time, you can still be very sensitive to loud or sudden noises.
