Phenotypes?

I often hear people talking about phenotypes. What are they and where can I find out more?

As far as I understand it, there are common combinations of physical traits. So if you have a doppelgaenger or someone who looks a lot like you, you have the same phenotype. Rite?

From what I have seen, it means ethnicity. For example Germans and Italians are different phenotype even if they are the same race.
