I started Elden Ring 2 days ago because I heard it was good, and I havent found much enjoyment in it. The first non hostile guy I met call me an incel (didnt need a reminder), then tell me to go to a castle.

Then the weird thing is, he doesnt actually tell me where that castle is, even as a general direction. Is this what counts as realism nowadays ? Someone sending you to do a task without giving any information ?

Anyway after that I didnt want to look up where is that online, so I decided to explore open world™, and engage convos with folks. And beside from 1 merchant, and 1 hot ghost girl (I think she wants me to finger her) everyone attacked to me on sight.

What is the point of it being an open world, if every being in it is gonna attack me as if I am in a dungeon ? I picked some flowers on the road, but I didnt get an urge to do alchemy / crafting like in Skyrim, because every location I went felt stressful. Also I decided to swim and died horribly but that was lowkey funny.

Now my question is, is this game supposed to be 1 hour of gameplay + 30 minute of looking at wiki kinda thing ? Is it possible to understand/advance quests without getting info online ?

tbf its one of the best part about elden ring asking you to explore without giving you directions or telling you what to do. also its not really hard to find objectives in the games just get the horse explore

No I beat Elden Ring blind.

That's how games used to be. You explored, figured things out with trial and error.

Elden Ring's problem is enemies are too annoying, repetitive and spongy.

For the castle, you had to follow the trail of "grace."

Everything other the the main story is left for you to discover at your leisure.

Are you ethnic by chance?

Did you? Do you have lots of white girls?
You remind me of brendio, I can see the mexican behind these words. If you are not gonna give game related comment you can go away with your pitiful pride.

I'm spaniard
And the nigga right at the start of.the game tells you where to go and follow the grace which you can see on the map
Over for your IQ

Mate, the castle is right there in front of you, way out in the distance near the cliffs. Can’t miss it

in the future just follow the direction of the sparkles from the sites of grace and you’ll be heading in the right track

Yeah I did found place with following the obscure light, and had to use that horse to bypass dozen enemies, until facing Margit the Fell and got recked. Did that again, but this time hot girl send me to a roundtable place, good to finally see calm individuals.

My problem is I havent found any motivation for my character to move forward. It looks like just another hard bossfight, but I didnt enjoyed the fights much, it feels like a I am made of glass.

Is this your first souls game? Gotta get good at rolling and reading the attack patterns for the bosses, or just start grinding runes and putting most your points in vigor so you don’t get killed by a strong breeze

anyway don’t rely on the wiki unless you absolutely have to and are stuck at a particular point. It ruins the fun of exploration and trial and error as others have said on this thread already. If you still don’t enjoy it then I guess it’s just not your kind of game

Just uninstall it and play a better game

Yep, maybe I should have started from the Dark Souls, appearantly they were just dungeons.

By the time I realized I can level up, I saw that I run out of runes

Gonna try it few days more, I will see if I enjoy it or not.

What would you recommend ? ER was recommended to me many times. I didnt like God of War 2018 much either.

Try Dark Souls 1&3, they mog ER hard especially in terms of balance, atmosphere and world design. ER feels soulless by comparison (though it's still a decent game).

if he was struggling with ER im not sure dark souls 1 is a good choice for him tbh. the dark souls 1 world was pretty hard to navigate and i kept getting lost in it/ clueless on what to do next

Really? I found ER to be far more confusing. DS 1 and 3 felt extremely straightforward. Even apart from exploring the world, ER also just felt aimless in general by comparison, like I never really felt like I fully knew what I was doing or that I was making good progress.

That was the worst past of the game for me, got lost constantly, riding my horse most of the time, and when i finally found something, most of the times it just was a boring copy pasted dungeon/boss.

It ruins the fun of exploration

That happens of it's own, when you eventually don't know where else to go, and when you do, it's another copy pasted dungeon/boss.

Guides actually made the game better to me, to skip the 80% slop part of the game and go directly to the non copy pasted bosses

In terms of knowing there the hell to go and skip the boring repetitive copy pasted dungeons/bosses, yes it is.

Just read a guide to go directly to the main bosses, your experience will be far better.

he doesnt actually tell me where that castle is
You're not supposed to play the game like it's linear, you're supposed to go out exploring, don't rush it.

You do know that there's a map? :feelskek:

Yes, but many times felt i visited all the places from a "continent" and the map is so big that i couldn't know where else i didn't visit. And when i did, i just found copy pasted dungeons/ bosses slop.

Also, many times i needed some key or simillar thing to advance and had to see a guide to keep progressing.

You have to follow the golden winds that lead you to grace but you are right i also didnt like it being open world because they dont explain anything and i hate not having a marker or a clear path forward because it becomes tedious. You should try the older souls games instead because they are linear ds3 is amazing. i will co op with you if you like

From slop fanboys will just answer to this with "skill issue".

To be fair, i got lost in all souls trilogy, even the ultra linear one DS3, but Elden Ring abused copy pasting content more than all the other, so much that it made me feel like playing on NG+2 on the first play playthrough, so i got so mad at hour 4 of gameplay that i got buyer's remorse and tried to refund the game (Steam refused). I finally tried guides and just confirmed even more than the game was a copy paste slop. My NG+ run was more fun, because i just skipped 80% of the game and went only for for the main content.
