Remember how 2016 was so upsetting, Current Year Man did a "Fuck You 2016" thing for it?

What was it about 2016 that upset all these people? In a nutshell it was the deaths of prominent figures, and losses for liberal politics. The death of Kobe Bryant was like several celebrity deaths in one. So Kobe alone probably hits the "celebrity death" quota. All we need for 2020 to upset people as much as 2016 is for Donald Trump to be re-elected. And I'm almost positive he will be. The Democrats have no base. They're a fragmented bag of flimsy tortilla chips, whereas the Republicans are united. Republican voters will vote for Trump. They won't stay home. But Hillary Clinton has already inspired dissent in the Democrat base. If Bernie is the nominee, she won't vote for him. So if You're With Her, you won't vote for him either. Costing the Democrats the election again.

I'm positive Kobe won't be the only celebrity to die this year. Maybe the biggest though. Imagine if we lose Betty White this year. She's fucking 98, but that's the point. Like Kobe, people are just used to her being around.

Don't remember all that much from 2016 'cus I have a bad memory.

A member of the British royal family will die this year

it will be bad i can feel it. however 2016 was the last good year of that decade

2020 year that basEdcoRonaviruscel wipes out humanity

No fucking shit celebs die every year

I feel the same way

2020 willl be 2016 but just shittier and not as much clown world fun

Queen or betty dies this year, someone from a popular band dies

All years suck. I don't remember any good years except my mountain hermitmaxxing years. And they were barely good.

It's fucking over for decadecels

I predict it will be just like last year, and the year before...a flat continuum, the years seguing seamlessly into one another.

I loved 2016 musically tbh and I just felt overall happier probably because I was 11-12 and liked girls but I didn’t care for them all too much

I was less depressed in 2016

So that doesn't seem like it panned out.
Do you still think 2020 was like 2016? Only similarity that is obvious is that both were US election years tbh

The last year of my life that wasn't absolute shit was 2010. 2011 - present has been quite a rough fucking ride. I honestly want out. I miss the 00s just like everybody else in the world who was alive then.

I blew it again!!!

No I don't think 2020 was like 2016. I scarcely remember 2016.

2016 and 2012 had a similar kind of vibe culture wise tbh
2020 I haven't been checking into pop culture so I wouldn't know what previous year 2020 was most like.

I remember 2012 though. I wouldn't quite say 2016 and 2012 were that alike. In 2012, the likes of Reddit and Twitter weren't as powerful. Forums weren't dead yet.

Movie wise and music wise I meant not social media wise.
By 2016 reddit and twitter were way more dominant than in 2012.
Forums weren't dead yet.
Forums have been dead since before 2012 tbh

How so, if Reddit and Twitter (the things that supplanted the forum) only became as relevant as they are in 2016?

Reddit and twitter were still more relevant than forums in 2012. They just weren't that widespread except among a more niche crowd. Now those sites are fully mainstream across many demographics unfortunately.

Which forums? Because back in 2012 I'm hard pressed to find a subreddit that was beating its forum/Yahoo! Answers equivalent.

For instance, back in 2012 if you wanted to talk about video games, you were on GameFAQs. You were on NeoGAF. You were on IGN. You were on these forums before you were on r/gaming, or r/smashbros, or r/whatever applicable game.

I didn't think of it that way ngl
For discussing men's rights issues reddit was the biggest site for aggregating discussion and getting a lot of discussion threads going.
