Even if you needed to be white to get a good job back then, anyone could at least get a wife no matter their looks. But nowadays only htn+ can get a wife without resorting to betabuxxing. So i think nowadays is much worse than back then because nowadays the majority of the male population isnt getting their most basic needs met
