Interesting question. In that moment I suppose there are two conflicting things I’d be faced with:
1. If someone I knew and cared about were to be dying, I wouldn’t want them to die alone and scared. Even if there were nothing I could do to save them, I think it would be comforting if I stayed there with them and held their hand at least, or even hugged them. So I’d offer this to her, if she didn’t want it or showed disgust at me, I’d leave her be. Don’t worry, I’m fully aware that others likely wouldn’t do the same for me if I were in that position, but this is just how I’m wired. It’s just too sad to let someone die alone.
2. In the US, to be a brown man holding a dead or dying white girl while covered in her blood, you are just asking to be shot on sight by whatever law enforcement or punk vigilante walks into that train car. It will be assumed that you either just killed her, or that you are actively killing her and are a threat that needs to be neutralized. Maybe less so somewhere like Chicago or Philly, but in the south, the odds are probably worse.
So, I can’t give an answer, but that’s what I’d be contending with I think.
