Theory Why Japanese warriors won against Russia in 20th century but China was obliterated by over 10 European countries?
They basically eat shit so they were good for experiments
maybe technology helped europeans or chinese were outnumbered 
Maybe Japanese had an European style modern army while Chinese didn't. Don't know for sure. Its seems that period from Opium Wars to beginning of XX century was absolutely worst for China.

also the chinese did very well in the korean war given the fact that they had no armor. just a lot of artillery pieces and manpower. that was the chinese strong point. their artillery and lots of infantry.
