This has been the only winning strategy EVER for Russia. They lost the first chechnya war trying strategies that they tried in Ukraine. After a few years when Putin came to power they went in again and won by totaly bombing everything back to stone age and then sending in infantry.

If modern missiles are so effective against tanks and APCs then maybe this is the start of a static war like in WW1.
Both sides will start to dig trenches until some new technology is invented that is superior to missiles.

Those Katushyas seem to be an awesome Russian innovation that turned the war in WWII.
One big problem Russia has as I see it is nobody except Russians want Russia in charge. So everywhere they go people are fighting hardcore to stop the Russian takeover and people are unified against them.
In Chechnya thinking about it, even after Russia leveled the cities, the Russians made a deal. They basically gave Chechnya full independence - even the Chechen army seems to be allied with Russia not just taking orders. And Russian made a deal to support one of the warlords Kadyrov.
With America in many places the majority of people in those countries wanted America over their own current corrupt government. Like one guy was saying the reason America took Italy so easily in WWII, wasn't that Italy couldn't have resisted.. Italy is very populous and great terrain for defending. Its that the poor workers of Italy who were also the soldiers they supported America. And he said the officers they liked Britain...meanwhile both groups hated Mussolini. So as soon as they saw the allied soldiers they just surrendered most of the time.
They weren't going to fight some guerilla war against America. Then after America got control in Italy, America scrapped the feudal system of licenses, permits, quotas, royal allotments, etc that had kept Italy desperately poor for centuries. And put in free enterprise, free trade, and also broke the land monopolism. And Italy had this hypergrowth until it actually caught up with America in per capita wealth in the 90's.
So then the next place, say Romania looks at Italy and thinks ya that is not a bad deal. So the West took them in without firing a shot. That is Sun Tzu.
Even the rich feudal lords in Italy, although very sad to not be in feudalism anymore and to see their people not be desperately poor anymore.. they got even more rich when the country boomed and their properties went to the Moon in value. The USA also didn't replace the government of Italy except the top few political leaders.
So basically you could look at the US/UK in Italy and say wow what an incredible army how they just took this whole huge country so quickly.. but it was that the Italians weren't really fighting.
In comparison in Vietnam where the US was actually invited in by the government of South Vietnam, the people there they really wanted Communism at all costs. They also had bad memories of colonialism.
People remember the gulags and opression of the state. I read some where that millions of Ukranians for example starved to death during soviet rule. So I guess they prefer to resist.
Similar story in Poland for example. Their lands were firstly carved up between the Third Reich and USSR. Then after WW2 whole provinces were joined to Russia in return for German land.
So yeah people dont want Russia medling in their affairs. Other states like Belarus and Armenia actually prefer Russia. For example only the Russians ever helped the Armenians, they were genocided by Turks who are today part of Nato and nobody ever said anything or ever helped their state except Russia.
So thats whats up.
About America. America never ever did anything bad to West Europeans so they love America which btw are actually their blood brothers. Even the American Negroes are their cousins through rape by white men. But ethnics hate America in the Middle East, in Asia, in Africa.
Too many examples of what white Americans did to ethnics from testing nuclear blasts on them, bombing and killing them, enslaving them.
So thats whats up. Thats why some people side with America and some side with Russia who helped ethnics during decolonisation with weapons, money and education.

Good points I hadn't thought that some countries do like Russia, eg. Belarus and Armenia which are allied with Russia. Probably Syrians, like them.
Its a big point that Americans are actually mainly West European immigrants so its easier to trust America for them.
Ya America's bad treatment of too many ethnic countries means America is then hated or at least distrusted by most of them.
Also with the whole Communism vs. Capitalism debate a lot of ethnic governments and political movements were blaming America for all their problems for like 70 years now. And the legacy of colonialism where they don't want any white government ordering them around.
Basically America has to wait for an ethnic country/government to be in trouble, then ask America for help. Then America has strings attached to help, but the people there don't know that.

Good point, I've been thinking about how the Russians will defend these areas. And basically it is like in battles in Syrian cities, where you sandbag buildings and hide in buildings and houses, and you dig trenches and have a ton of tunneling underground between positions.
Resupplying becomes a very big issue so you have to have massive stockpiles of ammo and supplies and food if you can.
Also think of all the parkades underground now. Like every condo buildings and commercial building. You could move artillery and so forth down there, until you want to use it.
Yeah for eaxample Syria, Iran, India etc side with Russia. Even China gave America the middle finger just a few days ago and is now buying Russian coal in Rubbles.
I read recently that states like Zimbabwe and Venezuala for example voted against sanctions against Russia. So these states buy Russian goods and give Russia their natural resources in exchange for Russias resources.
Dont forget this war is much larger than we are told or made to believe by the media. Look up the BRICS organisation. This is an organisation designed to make the IMF and World Bank obsolete i.e the Western dominance of world finances. Eventually the plan is to make sanctions imposed on countries by the West meaningless and useless because they can go to the BRICS bank for example for funds and give the West the middle finger, even ditch the Petro Dollar completely. Plus an example of this kind of financing is the China- Russia trade in Rubbles. Brazil will also trade with Russia.
Anyway so thats the deeper side that people are not told except if those who read up on this stuff or are forced to research it for univerisity projects.

Ya if other countries do nothing, then a bunch of countries fall to the US Empire every 30-40 years and the Empire grows stronger. And they hope maybe the Empire falls apart from within/loses its energy, before it gets to them.
Like after Russia, if that happens, it would take 30-40 years to do the usual remaking it in America's own image and integrating it to the Empire. But at some point the US would then come for the Stans, and they probably would just agree to start the process in their countries peacefully.
Yes thats how it works. America wont just let other countries simply take control of anything. Anyway America never acts alone, always the European countries ally with her. So they have heavy weapons industry to fall back on.
So every inch will be fought for if other countries think they will just march in and take what they want willy nilly they are very wrong.
But slowly slowly the West is losing ground. It started with Japan in WW2. Go and read the Japanese manifestos from that period. They said they want every European out of Asia and they dont care the cost.
So anyway we will see how things turn out. One thing is for sure, America is not going down without a fight.
