In anticipation for UFC 247, I couldn't help but notice that the contender, Dominic Reyes, must be the most irrationally confident person who has ever challenged Jon Jones for the title. On paper, he is a huge underdog leading up to the fight, yet you can feel his confidence deep down inside, there is no anxiety whatsoever. He is so confident he can win he barely needs to explain why. It's because he feels he is an "elite athlete." Mind you, that makes no fucking sense, as Jones and the men he has faced are obviously elite athletes as well. Does that fact even register in Reyes' brain? Hell NO. He says it like he believes it, that he will beat Jones, because he played football in High School, and that's all that matters.
While Jones' past competition claimed they could beat him, and perhaps visualize victory even, you also get the sense that they were riddled with anxiety. The difference between them, and Reyes, is the sense of ENTITLEMENT Reyes feels for victory. Why would you have anxiety over something you felt ENTITLED to?
There is nothing that drives me more nuts than for normies to tell us to BE MORE CONFIDENT. Do they not understand the consequences of TRUE CONFIDENCE?? It's almost like they want us to feel ENTITLED to women.
Reyes vs Jones, is like a parable of blind confidence vs science. I feel as though I should wager that I would do something irrational as to actually ask a woman out at a bar if Reyes won. As Reyes' victory is a victory for the spirit of confidence.
