Quasimodo(literally Half-Made) is a man doomed by genetics. He is hideous. When he was at the church for adoption, people called him a spawn of hell, a boy of satan. We learn that she gets deeply infatuated by this archetype, Pheobus.(He might as well be named Chad) He is a beautiful man of a high societal station. High class women are falling all over him. He strings Esmeralda along for "fun" and never sees as an equal. Yet esmeralda is so very deeply infatuated by the scumbag.and later on, when later on by circumstances she finds herself saved by the great quasimodo, she can't bear to look at him.
No matter how much she does not want to. Falling in love is a far fetched dream. Poor quasi, does so much for her, so many times. The most he will ever get is her pity. While she will helplessly pine for majestic pheobus. Later on, when Esmeralda's story ends in a hanging orchestrated by Frollo, Quasimodo finds the mass grave where Esmeralda is thrown, lays down with her body and becomes bone. Titled, "The Marriage of Quasimodo" this chapter really ends on a note of the ultimate blackpill view of Ldr and ropemaxxing.
This was so blackpilling as a story, that even when disney made their bluepill attempt at it, they couldn't give the draconian quasimodo, Esmeralda and she still ended with chad.
