Mine is liquid cooled. I've had it around a month so far and hoping it lasts a few years without issues at least. But liquid + pc parts doesn't seem like the best idea.

If you like something failing and your PC turning into a expensive fishtank then sure. No real reason to liquid cool your PC, its cheaper and just as effective to get a decent CPU cooler.

I don't suggest liquid cooling unless you're a serious enthusiast.

Air cooling has gotten so cheap and close enough in performance that it's the only option unless you absolutely need to max out everything. For $30, you can easily overclock to nearly the same level.

Plus with air cooling, it's a chunk of metal that's going to last forever (as long as you have applicable installation parts, which most sellers provide). Water cooling can be a nightmare if you get a leak, plus you need to do maintenance to avoid air pockets and such.

If I have any failures then I will be complaining to the indians who built my pc and request a new one for free. But they seemed alright.

kind of irrelevant but I prefer office pc cases to rgb lighted gaming pc cases

I like it, its quiet, can move the rad and fans around.

i have an aio, it keeps my cpu at 30 celcius and it's quiet

i bought my pc like 3 years ago for 1.3k ive spilt monster energy in the fan never cleaned it

and ive never had a problem running games

i have a water cooling thing in it and 3 fans are you meant to change the water?

How often?
For custom loops, like every few months to avoid bacteria and evaporation and air bubbles

Cheap AIOs, you just run it until it the pump dies or enough water is evaporated since there's not much you can do

I did a custom loop once and I loved putting my work into it and came out nice. I don’t think I will do it again though because I don’t have a need for a top of the line pc gaming pc anymore.

mine is liquid cooled and still working after 9 years

ive had liquid cooled for 4 years no physical problems/damage whatsoever

just make sure the screws that hold the thing to motherboard are not loose

There's just no need for it. A cheap AIO with a good graphics card is more than good enough.

Custom loops are for money moggers. It is for performance but also craftsmanship.

It's just for showing off like with the 5090. But at least building your own loop is impressive.

Its not water and if it was it still has nowhere to evaporate to lol

9 years nigga :worryfeels: Did you ever replace any parts?
only gpu upgrade. never had any hiccup with this pc. its overclocked too. tho cpu is 2016 technology and i struggle to run newer games

Unneeded unless you have a volcano TDP setup. Like a ryzen 9 9950X3D with RTX 5090

Cool but not necessary.

Can anyone who had both water and fan cooling tell if the difference in noise is big ?

Negligible in my experiences

The only times I had noise be noticeable with a PC is when the GPU was loud and stressed/coil whine

Is it normal for fans to become louder over time ? My previous cooling set up was relatively loud and now all my coolers are from be quiet ! and it feels a lot more quiet

Yeah, bearings get worn out over time and you should replace them

i have a custom loop for no reason

tbh air is fine nowadays

im just the type who likes to tinker with shit and make things harder than i have to

that really depends on how much power your cpu draws

if its a beefy cpu, air will be loud. it just doesnt have enough surface area to work with vs water

if its weak, then there is no real difference

I have 5700X3D which is 105W TDP and its silent

Unless you get like Raptor Lake and run it old BIOS that are known for overheating or do some crazy overclock, I don't think you'll hear much

It's a waste of money and time for 90% of PC gamers.
Custom loop liquid cooling of CPU and GPUs are mostly for people that enjoy overclocking the hell out of chipsets. They enjoy the tinkering aspect and aesthetics of such builds.

But here's the thing... overclocking a contemporary GPU and CPU will give at best modest performance gains in the majority of modern video games. You will see more appreciable performance gains in productivity software, rather then gaming. The only your area I could think of is maybe emulation.

Not to mention that it's costly and can have catastrophic consequences if there's a major leak.

In short: It's for massive geeks that care more about the hardware, rather than actually sitting down and enjoying a video game. The same type of people that load up a game and spend more time staring at the rivatuner statistics HUD than playing a damn game.

As for closed loop "all-in-one" coolers- they don't perform that much better than the best air coolers.

Most components you can't really even overclock anymore.

AMD CPUs, the best you can do is tinker with undervolting but you're limited to how much you can raise power levels and clocks.

All recent GPUs now unless you power mod which 99.999% of people never will and never should do, you're limited to like 10% higher power levels. Again, it's really about undervolting than overclocking today.

The one exception are Intel CPUs, but now since it's known they cause problems and AMD has largely equaled them in gaming performance, you're just OCing them for enthusiast hobby purposes at the risk of exploding stuff and wasting lots of money.

AIO solution is pretty reliable. I still prefer aircooling though
