If you wanna buy a PC monitor in this day and age where cheap manufacturing is everywhere you need to be very careful especially when it comes to the panel type, I refunded 3 or 4 monitors between 2022-2024.
TN panel: (I've had one for 11 years still working but it's 60hz
)
-best response time by far when it comes to gaming
-decent contrast, but washed colors especially on cheap models
-they are very pricy because most of them are 600hz, used by pro-gamers in tourneys
VA panel: (I owned one for 3 or 4 days then I refunded, my VA panel on laptop seems fine but on PC was terrible)
-bad response time, I will not recommend it for heavy gaming (shooters, mobas) unless it's an expensive model
-best contrast, decent/good colors (awesome for games with dark scenes)
-black smearing, they are known for being bad for reading and scrolling
-ghosting, is pretty dominant especially on cheap panels because of their bad response time (I've got ghosting on mine and it was terrible experience)
IPS panel: (I have one right now AOC 24GX4, it was a cheap decent choice)
-good response time (best balance between TN and VA) even on cheap models
-bad contrast, best colors (his weak contrast was a big deal for me it took 2 weeks to accommodate with, I had to change everything on browser from dark theme to light theme, even on this forum I use a light theme)
-IPS glow, is normal on IPS panels
-blacklight bleeding, I have some on the corners but it doesn't bother me much
-ghosting, I did a ghosting test and I got no ghosting at all
OLED panel: (Never had one...)
-I don't have much to add because I never had one but they are the best balance between every panel, they are still very pricy if you are in a good financial situation definitely go for one but always take a look at reviews on youtube and reddit.
Be very careful with what and how you clean them, all these new monitors are very sensible always use a clean microfiber cloth with distilled water and don't press too much power on the panel do it with slowly circular moves. (I did the mistake to use windows solution and I ended up with a dead pixel, thanks God is in the bottom left corner, NEVER USE ANY SOLUTIONS FOR WINDOWS, DISTILLED WATER ALWAYS DO THE JOB, THANKS
)
In the end I just wanna add if you are thinking of choosing between a cheap IPS, TNA or VA definitely go for the IPS but remember to ALWAYS READ AND SEARCH FOR REVIEWS ON YOUTUBE AND REDDIT, THANKS
)
Have a nice day !
