The word only has any real meaning among actual incels at this point. I've seen people refer to all men associated with the manosphere as "incel" which is of course wildly inaccurate but still understandable as to how someone would make that error.
But the dumbest usage of the word that I've witnessed so far is when people use the word as a synonym for "conservative". There really is no nuance in the way normies think.
Not only their misuse of the term but the speed at which they'll use it to label any man that commits a heinous toward a woman. News headlines could simply just use the word "mysoginistic" if they wanted to but buzzwords like "incel" is what gets the clicks.
