So many big games now are just ports, remasters, "upgrades," and remakes. A sure sign gaming is creatively bankrupt. I wasn't that bothered by this in 2017-18, but it's incestuous.

Half of the lineup for the PS5 and switch 2 are remasters of PS4 and switch games. Remember when we went from the PS1 and N64 to PS2 and GameCube and almost all the big exclusives were original games? Well, now it's much easier and profitable to shit out a remaster with a few hours of dlc that's locked behind next generation consoles. It's all so tiring.

True, i noticed that too.

same deal with movies and other creative fields, just regurgitating the same stuff like live action remakes of movies made 30 years ago. or sequels etc.. It's like creativity is dead.

The gaming industry is as creatively bankrupt as Hollywood.

i would actually say it's a bigger deal than because hollywood was never an incel cope, while video games were. and they deliberatly destroyed them for their twisted agenda.

Everything is too expensive these days and companies focus on graphics over gameplay and they would rather make a slop remaster or remake of a popular game because they know it will sell rather than make an actual good original game. Doesn't help the fact that a lot of companies dump their money into making globohomo games that nobody buys with some exceptions like some of Sony's new games.

ports are a good thing since it's not like the ps2 era where you could just pop in your old disc and be good to go, modern consoles have completely different architecture and are incompatible with old games
they are definitely overpriced though

My favorite part is if the original game is so good why do you need a remaster to enjoy or what was the last time they played it(oblivion remaster)

The video game industry has become creatively bankrupt. Just like the movie industry.
