Evidence for specificity of polygenic contributions to attainment in English, maths and science during adolescence.​

Researchers performed genome-wide association studies of standardised national English, maths and science tests using data from the UK-based Avon Longitudinal Study of Parents and Children (ALSPAC) to assess whether there exist academic subject-specific molecular genetic contributions. The performance in the three academic subjects were assessed using National Curriculum-based Standardized Assessment tests (SATs) at 11 and 14 years of age. The academic attainment scores for English (N = 5983), math (N = 6017) and science (N = 6089) were calculated by summing age- and sex-regressed SAT scores from these two time points for each academic subject. After the genotyping, one genome-wide significant single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) was identified for attainment in science, but none for attainment in English or math. Further 26 independent SNPs showed suggestive evidence of association with science, 38 for math and 16 for English. Rs11264236 in the Natriuretic Peptide Receptor 1 (NPR1) gene and rs10905791 in the Ankyrin Repeat And SOCS Box Containing 13 (ASB13) gene showed suggestive evidence of association with science. The A allele of rs11264236 and the T allele of rs10905791 showed tendencies to increase academic scores in science. In addition, phenotypic correlation analysis revealed that science was significantly more correlated with English and maths than these were with each other.

At the local psychiatric hospital, patients undergoing a "psych eval" are placed in a locked waiting room(Patients cannot leave without permission). They are frisked by employees from the Department of Public Safety with a metal detector and then directed into a separate waiting room to speak to a nurse.

After the nurse is finished asking questions and making suggestions, the case is presented to a psychologist for review. That person makes the determination of whether a patient should be hospitalized or directed to an outpatient program.

I sat in the lobby briefly, waiting for my psychiatrist, when I saw Anthony, a youth from group therapy. Given that he glanced at me for a few seconds and then placed his head down, I'm sure he recognized me also. (We had the same psychiatrist, as indicated by Dr. Samuel before his discharge)

I was waiting for my psychologist, when I noticed Joseph, another youth from group therapy. Joseph was 5'5, autistic, and happened to have the same psychologist. I noticed him as he was leaving his appointment("Take care"). He glanced at me briefly, so perhaps he recognized me too...

I've seen Miss Rebecca and Dr. Samuel while waiting at the hospital, at times.

Ahhhh....yes, I see...

When I was in group therapy, youth would be annoyed by my constant stuttering. One youth, someone I still respect and had spent months with while there, muttered "Thank you" in an annoyed tone when I declined to speak any further. Another simply spoke over me when it was my turn.

Several of the youth there had to be sent to the "Quiet Room" because they would nod off as I was speaking.

Ironically enough, in the youth commune, a certain pale White brunette staff member would always speak to me quickly, which I still was able to understand even while dazed from napping. She spoke slowly to the other Blacks. A car filled with young Whites drove past me as I walked to the nearby transit station(5B) and they quickly yelled out racial slurs. Again, I understood their remarks perfectly as the Blacks around me struggled to make sense of them.

In 2016, I was an anxious 17-18 y/o who could barely leave his room to attend group therapy. I had crippling social anxiety and stuttering issues that made it difficult to function among other people. I kept my head down for four hours and had to close my eyes to speak normally.

In 2016, "anxious" and "depressed" had 10+ orbiters and 4+ boyfriends lined up to support her at any given time. She was placed in the "Afternoon Group" to support her complex mental health history(She needed the extra support of her morning teachers).

#146320430Thursday, September 18, 2014 3:30 PM CDT Science has essentially acted as a structure for many of the modern creations we have today, It's not necessarily about deciding a person's intelligence, It's an entire system divided into separate aspects to provide a system for research and categorization of various subjects.Neither Science nor Philosophy or "Art History" are entirely perfect and there's problems and controversy/division with all of those about something, however they all have their own positive benefits altogether and certain aspects can be used in combination.
