Serious The problem with Cambridge dictionary

There is the word "incel" in the Cambridge dictionary. But, few things are wrong in its meaning.

"a member of a group of people on the internet who are unable to find sexual partners despite wanting them, and who express hate towards people whom they blame for this"

They are implying that inceldom is an online sub-culture, rather than a life circumstance.Also, they accuse us of being an hate group, which is wrong. Inceldom is a state of being. You do not have to adopt specific set of beliefs and ideas to identify as an incel. We express what is true. We have lots of scientific studies.

The word "incel" is simply a portmanteau for involuntary celibate.

Don’t you find it strange that they turned the word incel into a whole different word with a new meaning? What is the secret motive behind this?

in terms of connotation "incel" does refer to people who participate in the incel subculture/hold the kinds of views commonly expressed on these types of forums, i.e self-identifying incels. nobody uses it to mean "involuntarily celibate" outside of this community. this is why you hear stuff like "My ex boyfriend was such an incel"
