Maintaining this kind of hazing and in-group is essential for any online community, if you look at any board on 4chan they’re naturally very stringent about this and even slight slip ups in vocabulary or etiquette are immediately met with intense scrutiny and everyone recognizing you as an outsider and telling you to fuck off. Without this factor the board inevitably gets overran by garbage
