Both are competing as rivals to become the Magic Emperor
Asta - short (often made fun of for this, even by Yuno his Chad best friend), not as refined as his chad counterpart when it comes to personality, "weirdo", born with LITERALLY ZERO MAGICAL POWER (which is a huge abnormality in their universe), he is the beta of beta's EVERYBODY HAS SOME MAGIC (well so far in the series), gets his power from a demon (analogous to hatred from my perspective). Constantly confesses his love to a nun that helped raise him always gets rejected JFL. Rigourous daily training to even be on par with chad. His power is black and nullifies all other magic so the potency of the magic attack used against him in most cases makes no difference, it gets rendered moot all the same if he attacks it with his sword. I think this seems analagous to the "black pill" and the "blue pill" is actual magic (note that magical power is often depicted with a blue energy within the bodies of people - like chakra in naruto). Just like with the pills, it doesn't matter what blue pill BS you throw out, the black pill doesn't deal in "strength", its just a fact, it nullifies blue BS by default no matter what. (SO MANY DAMN COINCIDENTAL PARALLELS HERE)
Gets assigned to the magic knights faction filled with failed normies, weirdos and social misfits alike lol (A lolicon obsessed with his sister, a "womanizer" so far who has yet shown to even get a woman attracted to him, a weird looking guy that mumbles to himself and too shy to properly talk to other members, a literal roastie drunkard, etc)
Yuno - tall, handsome (many female characters fawn over his looks alone, asta only gets female attention via his accomplishments in battle and strength of will, which never really happens IRL though lol, that's the blue pill aspects of an anime series rearing its head). Has a normie personality, born with magical power on par with and maybe even exceeding royals (people born in royal families innately have more magical power) than commoners. Natural talent for magic, barely has to train, gets his current power boosts from a foid wind elemental that follows him around and imprinted itself onto his grimoire JFL (dude literally gets his power from a fucking female orbiter JFL). He had a necklace on his neck when they were both found as babies at the front of an orphanage (starts off with bling), pretty sure that item will lead to some indication that he has royal heritage (good genes is why he is so amazing).

Really liking the new opening, catchy as hell, hate the "blaaaack clooover" part in the song though, seems kind of "off" and "forced", but the rest of the song is so good it grows on you and you learn to like it lol.
