Studying Philosophy is not what i thought it would be

For a long time i wanted to study philosophy, let me just say the pretentious type of philosophy basically just nietzche, jean paul satre and the rest, so i went to university to study phiosophy and boy do i have to say, it is not what i expected in my first year it was okay we did introduction to the different branches of philosophy epistemology, metaphyisc, political philosophy, ancient and meideveal philosophy. but now we are basically just doing analytical philosophy as main caurses with us having the option to choose continetal philosophy courses as side courses, so if you want to study philosophy i am telling you get ready to know mathematics, cause what the hell am i doing a course named set theory for philosophers

Yeah I've seen many people say this, seems pretty weird though, maybe I just don't read enough philosophy to understand why math is involved

Why in the name of fuck would you formally study philosophy, it is dead obvious to anybody with a brain that everything actually good about the whole area would be sucked out by the academic approach. The way to go is to read books and for formal study pick something that you don't entirely hate, yet it has a sufficient potential to pay the bills.

The analytical philosophy is best thing that has happened to humanity, I am CS major (unemployed) , and did a discrete maths course and was fascinated, so I studied it more, read some rigourous logic books and theory of automata books and demn it some cool stuff
