Stop with the public polls please

The past few days almost every poll has been public (meaning: other people can see what you voted for). This is an unwelcome change since it destroys your anonimity and privacy and might keep people like me from voting. There's no need to make any poll public tbh, anyone should be able to cast a vote without having to worry if others see their answers and what they might think of them.

If a poll is public, you can see who voted what after you either voted yourself or just view the results.

It's your fault for being so self conscious about your answers for some unknown reason. I really don't see the problem, and I don't see why it would deter you from voting.

I do see the problem, as I stated it in the OP. Let me ask you the other way: why would you want polls to be public? Why does it matter who voted what?

That's why i don't post public polls,if I wanted to know what a specific user chose I would just look at their comment if they left one.

I do see the problem, as I stated it in the OP. Let me ask you the other way: why would you want polls to be public? Why does it matter who voted what?

Why does it matter? It helps to differentiate between people with different opinions so you can get a better understanding of them, and it helps weed out people who you wish to not associate with.

It's not anonymous since people can see which users voted what. They might still not know your real name etc., but your online persona is also a part of your identity and you can still get nagged or harassed because of answers you gave on a poll.

That's why i don't post public polls,if I wanted to know what a specific user chose I would just look at their comment if they left one.

That's the way it should be.

I am not ashamed of my opinion. I do however think when it comes to some (controversial) topics and polls in general, it's none of other people's business to know what my opinion is. You should be able to vote on a poll entirely anonymous without having the chance of people bothering you for your answer(s).
