For example on my Linux PC I have the game Battle For Wesnoth installed normally and I think on Steam too.
It's a fairly basic game on a technical level but has strategic depth and is atmospheric I think!
Anywho if I try to play it via the normal installed package, it loads in about 3 seconds.
If I tried to play it on Steam it would go like this:
Huge Steam update -> Steam login requiring authenticor -> whole Steam client loads -> possibly waiting a long time for Linux runtimes to be set up -> game eventually loads.
And that's assuming it goes smoothly! Which it often doesn't.
