I'll update this ranking some time in the future, once I got more GC games, but they go up for a pretty penny on eBay.
Ive got 7 GC games so far, 4 completed, 3 I'm still playing rn, so I can properly rank them just yet.
So, from highest to lowest:
1. Pikmin.
I love the concept of this game, and how you need to strategize what to do and prioritize collecting certain parts over others.
The games ost is pretty atmospheric, it goes well with the environments you explore on your adventure.
It's easy to imagine the game taking place in someone's back garden.
However, things that piss me off are new Pikmin taking forever to sprout, the games not co-op, the amount of Pikmin you need for a certain part is not stated, so you could go to pick up a part far from the onions without the right amount of Pikmin you need.
Another piss off IS that sometimes, the blue Pikmin can carry a ship part across water, and sometimes, they can't, like in the distant spring.
I also feel like the game should have like, 10-15 days rather than 30.
2. Super mario sunshine.
Played this back when I was 8, loved it back then and love it now.
I played mario 64 on a project64 emulator, and the games pretty overrated tbh, but sunshines underrated.
Even now, sunshine kinda stands out from other mario games for trying to tell anyway actual story, and using fludd to battle enemies and platform around the environment.
The rocket nozzle and burst nozzles you get later are great, but pretty underused, especially the burst nozzle.
Yoshi was a nice add and his appearance in sunshine mogs the one in 64.
In fact, Yoshi has absolutely nothing to do with the overall story, it kinda felt like they just threw him in.
Sunshine can also be a bit too easy at times, I died more on the secret stages then anywhere else in the whole game.
But yeah, sunshines one of my favourite mario games, not that I have a big list, I grew up playing more sonic games than mario ones.
Speaking of...
3. Luigi's mansion.
Definitely a unique mario spinoff.
I'm fine with it not being a platformer and trying something different, especially with Luigi, because even though he's similar to mario, his games shoulds be different and unique in their own way.
Mansion certainly major mogs Mario is missing.
But yeah, liked the gameplay, exploring the mansion, solving puzzles and sucking up ghosts.
Also, you don't have to suck up all the ghosts to beat the game, but you have to if you want to increase your chances of getting an A or even S rank when you finally beat the game.
The games too short, and I have the feeling that they could have added more to the game, but chose to play it safe and keep it short and sweet.
4. Mario Kart Double Dash.
Fun mario kart game with a unique gimmick that they never brought back for some reason.
Hell, it'd be cool to see an Nintendo all-star kart racer too.
But yeah, fun game and pretty good one, but fucking hell it lacks content.
I nearly unlocked all the karts in characters in a few hours FFS too.
Still though, it mogs the future mario karts, or so I heard.
