Your thoughts?

Discuss.

Ps. It's subjective so where do you draw the line in each case. Specific examples including anecdotal stories wouldn't go amiss here.

To start off. Can you be selfish if you're barely a subsistence living person?

We are a selfish species like all animals. Looking out for ourselves, everything we do is based on cost-benefit and reproductive fitness.

In nature animals are only "Selfless" when it comes to their own family, because preserving whatever family they have extends the duration of their gene lineage.

Even simping is a survival strategy, as desperate and sad as it is (like a fish inseminating a female fishes eggs while she is not looking).

The only problem is humans are delusional and believe we are unique and live under the guise of a fair and just world beyond the laws of nature. We deny deep down that we are no different than the dog eat dog world out there. That's why you have redditards virtue signaling to deflect from their own flaws. That's why simps have to play mental hoops and pretend that their simping is something virtuous and noble when it's not. It's a desperate reproducing strategy wired in their brains whether they know it or not for lower tier males in human society. Then they get pissed at incels and project their frustrations on to us in order to avoid any self-reflection.

Simps are delusional though, because females do not let simps reproduce (they go for dark triad Chads instead). Therefore it is an illogical reproductive strategy predetermined to fail.

Yes. It is a failed reproduction strategy out of desperation. Not all reproduction strategies work but they still do them out of instinct regardless of outcome.

Absolutely. When you barely have anything, you usually hold onto it more desperately.
But this is just my opinion. I've always been a very selfish person, maybe partly because I've never had much of anything good.

In this instance is selfishness = survival?

You definitely have to be selfish to survive. Nobody will stand out for you, especially if you're incel.
