It is an extremely stupid move for Russia to attack Poland, even though Lithuania is a much easier target for a war.
Poland simply has a lot of mobilization resources and a large population. Plus, no restoration of the USSR will justify a war with it, as it is a legally independent country, albeit a puppet state, since 1945.

It was the same thing about two years ago, when a missile hit a Polish border village, but it was blamed on Ukrainian air defense shooting down a Russian missile and causing it to hit Poland, or on the fact that it was a Ukrainian air defense missile.

Because Russians are cowards and will never attack someone who is stronger than them or someone who could theoretically defeat them.

Of course, at the time of 2015, Russia could not start a war with Turkey. This is because Turkey has a large army and advanced military technology. Additionally, they have a large and young population, which means they can theoretically mobilize a significant number of troops.
The only response from the Russian Federation was to ban tourism to Turkey and to ban the import of tomatoes.
