RE remake shouldn't be seen as a replacement for the original. It should be seen as a game that you can play after finishing the original imo. There's many moments in remake that were made with the assumption you played the original. Without spoiling the game too much, the placement of the dog jumping out of the window is a perfect example of this. Despite being a great remake, RE remake is also missing some content such as alternative events based on your decisions and rooms.
