This is a list I have been meaning to make since @Subhuman Niceguy's Doom thread. However, I have been seriously ill for the past 3-4 weeks, so my mental capacity was quite limited. Now that I've (mostly) recovered, however, I can put genuine effort into my posts once again.

Essentially, what you will find here is a compilation of mods for Doom 1 and 2 that I have personally played and would recommend. While most of them are simple quality of life mods, I did include a few that completely overhaul the game.

To run any of these, you will first need to download GZDoom, which you can find here.

Next, you will need the IWAD files of Doom 1 and Doom 2. You can obtain these through either purchasing the games online, or, if you are like me—by pirating them.

Doom 1 WAD: https://files.catbox.moe/bcar2d.WAD

Doom 2 WAD: https://files.catbox.moe/vz1a32.wad

Alternatively, you can get both here.

Next, download ZDL. (Ether link works).

This is a simple tool that will allow you to load multiple mods (Usually represented as .pk3 files) together.

While completely optional, you can also download Slade in order to edit mods to your liking.

For example, let's say you have two mods installed that change how weapons work. However, you only want to use the weapons from one of them. You can actually load the file in Slade and delete the code responsible for the weapons. Quite handy.

My Mod list:

Zxhair - This mod adds a dynamic crosshair similar to what modern first-person shooters have. When using this mod, make sure to disable the vanilla crosshair in the options menu.

Nashgore - Feel as if classic Doom is not gory enough? Nashgore has you covered! This mod adds more blood, (You can change the ammount in the settings) along with the ability to blow enemies into meaty chunks. Generally compatible with other mods, unlike Brutal Doom.

Voxel Doom - Tired of looking at flat sprites? Voxel Doom transforms them into 3D voxels. This includes enemies, weapons, decorations, and even the textures on the walls.

Nashgore Voxels - This add-on for Nashgore voxelizes the gore. Must be used with and loaded AFTER Nashgore.

No More Hitscans - Removes hitscanning (Instant hit) from enemies that have them and makes them shoot projectile-based bullets instead.

Colored Blood - An interesting mod that changes the blood of certain enemies to be accurate based on their death sprites. Cacodemons bleed blue, Barons bleed green, etc.

IDKFA - By far, the best music mod for the game(s). Perfect for those who want to RIP AND TEAR.

Brutal Wolfenstein 3D - Despite the fairly generic name, this mod is actually a full remake of the original Wolfenstein 3D done in Doom 2. Contains remixed levels, weapons, bosses, and even a lorebook.

Blade of Agony - Arguably one of the most ambitious and graphically intense Doom mods ever created, this is basically a full game set in the Wolfenstein universe. Linked below is the uncensored 3.0 version. (The creator went full woke retard after being bullied by braindead DoomWorld users for featuring a concentration camp level in a game about killing Nazis).

Double Jump - Exactly as the name implies. Adds a double jump.

Levelinfo - A useful HUD mod for completionists. Allows you to keep track of kills, items, secrets, etc.

Universal Minimap - This mod adds a resizable minimap to the screen that shows enemies, pickups, etc. If you have trouble navigating the more mazelike maps of Doom 1 and 2, this is for you.

Led's Generic Weapon Mod - Out of all the weapon overalls I've tried, this one ended up being my personal favorite. Adds an assault rifle along with various improvements to vanilla weapons.

Led's Generic Weapon Mod Voxel Pack - An addon for the above mod that voxelizes the weapons.

Bullet Time - If you ever played the old Max Payne games, you know what to expect from this mod. Adds the ability to temporarily slow down time and fill your foes with lead.

Moon Man 2 - A 4chan shitpost that is surprisingly well made. In this mod, you play as either the titular Moon Man, Kyle Rittenhouse, or Adolf Hitler—shooting your way through a vast assortment of ethnic minorities. Banned on every major Doom mod site.

Moon Man Music - An optional addon for moon Man 2 that plays an original soundtrack.

Beautiful Doom - A visual enchancement mod that adds smoke, casings, debris, improved lighting, etc. Highly compatible with other mods.

Pirate Doom and Pirate Doom 2 - Combined, these two mods feature over 50 pirate-themed levels for Doom 2. Also includes new weapons, music, and reskinned enemies.

Ghoul's Forest - A short yet atmospheric mod that turns Doom into a survival horror game. Explore a dark, foreboding forest and slay evil spirits.

The Circus - Another horror mod that is loosely based on Stephen King's IT.

HDoom - While I am only including HDoom on the list as a joke, I can assure you there is at least one degenerate here who would actually play this one.

Feel free to suggest more mods in the comments!
