It is essentially the story of a boy who joins a scalp-hunting gang in the nineteenth-century borderlands and moves through a series of violent encounters as the group travels across the Southwest.
I disagree, I still think it is worth reading but not as your first Cormac McCarthy novel. It’s better to start off with easier ones like The Road or No Country for Old Men.I do not recommend reading it because the prose is needlessly dense and the story becomes tedious quickly.
