Here Synthetic Man briefly talks about how video games got completely incorporated into the mainstream after the early 2010's. Games started to suck and it's bound to get worse because nowadays, the devs working on them as well as the consumers buying them and the critics endorsing them are brainrotted tasteless normies that poison everything with their nullity, it's a total takeover.

The two loud guys are maybe the biggest french influencers (nowadays around 15-20 mil subscribers to give you an idea). Their gaming content (one of them completely ditched it by now by the way which says a lot, while the other keeps it on a secondary channel) is not the primary reason for their success but comedic podcasts, so they were kinda like a bridge between video games and the mainstream, with all it enticed : complicity with editors, product placement, commercial manipulation of kids (which were the main audience of those guys)...
And here Shigeru Miyamoto enters the room and calls them FAKE GAMERS.
And this was 9 years ago ! So you can't be surprised by the current rot, it's not something that can be reversed. Tbh it feels like someone egged him on to say it as a joke but still i find it quite funny and symbolic. The zoomer kids that grew up on this commercial slop are the same that are making games nowadays, along with millenials like those guys, that were already going with the flow.It's over buddy boyos.
