Serious One of my professors is Russian should I cold approach him?

My professor is a Russian guy, I noticed that his T.A. is also Russian from his heavy accent. The actual professor speaks very good English so I figured that maybe he likes other Russian boyo's which is why he must have hired that russian student T.A. guy. I'm not doing good in the class so I was wondering if I just showed up to his office hours and in the middle of the conversation/problem explanation, asked him Russian, "do you speak Russian?".

I don't know if he'll get offended by thinking that I think his English isn't good or maybe he'll give me that sweet B+ just because I talk in his language.

Thoughts? There aren't many Russians here.
