In Ninja Gaiden Sigma 1 it felt like almost every enemy could mess you up if you played sloppily so you had to be careful when it came to blocking and timing counters. In Sigma 2 I can just mash buttons and not worry about blocking. Maybe, occasionally I'll have to roll out of the way. It doesn't really matter because I almost always get health from dead enemies.
The level design has significantly eroded since Sigma 1. In Sigma 1 levels were designed in a fashion more similar to a Zelda dungeon where you would have to explore these larger more open areas to figure out where to go and what to do. In Sigma 2 levels are practically just walls and there's barely anything outside of the combat. Maybe some occasional platforming.
I'll probably play the original 2 on Xbox eventually. Sigma 2 isn't that good.
