Just finished watching Death Note and I'm going to larp here about it because I don't have anything better to do. I have to say that the reality was underwhelming compared to the expectations I had for it. I think the normies really overrated this anime. The pros of this anime are that the whole concept with the Death Note and the Shinigami was very unique and very well explained and the plot twists were insane. I really liked Light's character, he was so well written and the way he executed his plans was very fun to watch, he is definetly the best written character in the show. L was really awesome too, watching him was entertaining and after he died the story wasn't really the same. I didn't like Near as much because he was just a less in depth and a "cringe" version of L. Other characters were just meh, I don't feel anything for them. Now for the cons, a character I really found annoying and unnecessary to some extent was Misa, at least the way she acted. I found it annoying how dumb and slutty she was and I feel like Misa should have been made to be a lot smarter and not just a dumb foid with zero awareness of anything. She just made the story a lot more complicated for no reason and the anime got boring when it started to be centered around her. The pacing was very weird too, some scenes were unnecessary while some other scenes should have gotten a lot more detail, and the ending felt a bit rushed. I also didn't like the whole idea that some Shinigamis would be simping for humans and the story should have made Light kill L some other way than putting Rem into a difficult spot just because she is a lesbian simp, but it made Light seem really smart so who cares. This anime would have been 10/10 for me if the author kept doing what he was doing in the beginning with all the "I got you" moments and if he didn't introduce useless characters just to make killing L and exposing Light faster and less complicated.

I liked that this anime isnt your typical clichee anime that reuses the same anime jokes and metaphors every 5 minutes e.g. oversexualising everything or exaggerated emotions and reactions

The 2nd parts pacing was way too fast, you don't get to connect with new characters like you did with L. I personally don't love Light all that much. I'm sure it's better in the manga. I will say the aesthetics are S tier, just the right amount of goth.

Fun fact: the creators of death note ripped off future diary by making platinum end

You cannot tell it wasn't realistic.

Yeah I usually drop if that happens or switch to manga

Aesthetics and all the parallels and philosophy behind it is definetly awesome

Yes because foids are slutty, childish and dumb in real life and when I try to cope from the irl world by watching some media I don't want that shit showing up :feelsthink:

The rule of thumb for death note is to stop watching after the first season

The only character I liked from deathnote is ryuk and I was happy when he killed light.

based, misa was insufferable AF, light only went undetected so long because he was a Chad too

Early Kira was likeable and relatable. Then he goes full megalomaniac and psychopathic and becomes way less so.

L is the definition of lawful evil, I disliked him from the start despite him being undoubtedly the smartest character.

Most other characters are very forgettable , we have plenty of dumb lawcucks ("please investigate my family harder, watch my wife and daughter showering and taking a shit if this is what it takes to catch some random dude killing criminals!"), the mentally ill foid who likes the cold Chad and some random dumb criminals. Mikami was an exception, he was very relatable.

Cliché opinion, but it really got much worse after L's death. I heard that it happened because the anime had to rush that part, but both Near and Melo were very bad characters. Kira deserved to win.

My favourite death note episode is Overcast. The 7th episode.

I liked this anime a lot when I was in Highschool. However when I rewatched it as an adult with a fully developed frontal lobe, I can't help but feel annoyed with how dumb Light is. Like, bro how tf did you mess up so badly at this.
Also, I feel the same way about Misa. I wanted to like her because she's very cute & very devoted, but she's just very one-dimensional as a character & has the IQ of a ham & cheese sandwich

True, but then again I like how he died, it made me happy when Ryuk wrote his name in the Death Note.
That scene had some merit for making a connection to what Ryuk said very early on the series, but I found it kinda dumb to have someone who's hemorrhaging like crazy and like one minute max from losing consciousness and dying get a heart attack.

well ure not supposed to the same way u do L, because light is a narcissist and thats his appeal

I wasn't talking about Light, but the characters from part 2 (near, mello). I don't like Light because at some point he stops feeling human all together. IMO the best "god complex" characters are the ones where it's obvious that their god/superiority complex is a cope/mask and internally flipped into an inferiority complex.

Platinum end.. god that series sucked.
Out of all series to rip off of who the hell would make a rip off of future diary?

well the point of his character is that he doesn't actually believe in the moral values he preaches, he only boasts because it makes him feel like he's better than everyone else. hurt people hurt is a saying light doesnt grasp, cuz he doesnt actually care, he takes pleasure in killing "rotten" people, evil isnt a thing that exists outside itself and not a lot of people seem to get that
