It depends on the psychiatrist. I have had good ones and bad ones. I do not mind my current one.

Still, the most honest psychiatrists will tell you that there is a limit to what can be done with many psychiatric disorders as our understanding of the brain is still quite limited. Medication does not always work and even if it does it often comes with side-effects and it can one day stop working and then you either have to have your dosage adjusted or try a different one.

I have to go to mine once every two months for a basic psychiatric "check-up" and to make sure my meds are working.
