My mother started the conversation by telling me about how victim mentallity is holding me back from fulfilling my potential.
I responded by saying I'm statistically fucked by the economy. Here's why:
(The prices are in Israel but I heard housing crisis is global)
- Houses today are worth on average for a 4 bedroom apartment: 2.36 million ILS (ILS - local currency)
- median salary is 9000 ILS, and I'm making lower than that.
Lets say you manage to save 7500 ILS after taxes, without spending any money on food, bills, or housing.
it would take you ~26.2 years to save enough money for a house
(2,360,000 / (7500 monthly * 12 months per year )).
And thats not accounting for inflation and rising houses cost over time. (In the last decade prices rose from 1.46M ILS to 2.36M ILS).
So if I don't spend any money, housing prices remain stable and there is zero inflation:
I can finally own a house at 50-55 years old, in this non existent scenario. Realistically I'll never own a home.
Dad: "But it's your lack of faith that's holding you back, you put barriers on yourself. What if you could succeed"
Me: "Dad, by that logic I could win the lottory tommorow - doesn't mean I will"
Clown world, im telling you.
I don't know if I should laugh or cry at this point.
