This, of course, is very much a trendy, chart-focused release. Everything from the pop rap-style choruses on this record, to a lot of the features. I know from that description, a lot of you aren't interested in listening to this kind of thing, but I think Meek actually does some interesting things with these trendy instrumentals and formulas. For sure, even though you do have some trap-style percussion in the drums—like the opener, Lord Knows, which samples this huge, huge cut of Mozart's Lacrimosa, which is incredibly epic. Something that, in theory, might've been too presumptuous, especially for this brand of music, but it actually goes over really well.

I guess what I'm trying ot say is, while this record does seem familiar in terms of the modern hip-hop soundscape, it's very extravagant and pretty to listen to. I don't care for Meek Mill, but his delivery on this record was super impassioned, oer-the-top, and even charismatic, and some of his best tracks have featured this characteristic, but he brings it so consistently on this album that it's kind of hard to deny. Especially on tracks like Lord Knows and Ambitionz, which is maybe the most aux-worthy track on this. Shoutout to Mozart for being the realest G to originally produce the former.

I was young, I was wild, just a lonely rebel child
And I won't regret the past and the mistakes of my life
I'm forever a rebel kid
The world has changed, the clouds are black
Can't see the light anymore
But I remember the true facts, I don't need their lies
I faced the fire, nothing to lose
I'm running wild, forever free...

This would be a good theme for guts...
