russia was never the 2nd most powerful military

idk how that notion even came from in the west

in most of the wars against major european powers, russians suffered heavy casulties. whether it was crimean war against britain and france, ww1 against germany, ww2 against germany, napeloen invasion of russia etc.

perhaps its a misunderstanding of what it means to be "most powerful". sure on paper russian military was powerful, but NATO countries and japan and sk didnt rly need as much powerful military due to alliance with the US. but if any of them wanted, they could build up much more powerful military but whats the point? they rather use the money for welfare and shit......
