I've recently started to play this game again, its better than i remembered tbh, the Just Cause series is one of my favorite game series of all time, i kinda prefer it to GTA even tho i love GTA too.

Yeah it was never meant to be realistic or serious, its more of a fun game to just destroy stuff in.

The gameplay of Just Cause 3 and Just Cause 4 is much better than the gameplay of any GTA game in my opinion. But unfortunately the Just Cause series lacks depth and doesn't have many features like mini games or strong characters, a good storyline, or iconic places to see.

Both JC3 and JC4 are very fun to play in and use as a physics/combat sandbox but in my opinion Avalanche Studios (the developer) dropped the ball with JC4 because they didn't improve much from JC3, plus JC4 has some performance/optimization issues.
