This feedback loop forces you to adopt certain traits and temper, so in that case your looks decide how your personality develops.

A short, scrawny, unappealing man will be expected to be timid and submissive or risk be called a "short, angry man with Napoleon Complex". So he will over time adapt to the personality that is expected from him by society in order to fit in and survive.
