Was thinking of picking up a switch 1. Been wageslaving and have plenty of money and don’t really want anything, so the money just rots in my account. Just wondering from users on .is who have a switch, is it worth it? Is the game library big enough and are the exclusives good enough to warrant the price tag?

I don’t have a pc or any computer or I would obviously just emulate.

The game library is quite big and has lots of great indies. Some exclusives are great but there have been several mehs, also I feel like some of the best exclusives tend to have some performance problems (Xenoblade series, Tears of the Kingdom), because of that if I were you I would consider getting a switch 2 instead, because those exclusives would run better and the console has backwards compatibility.

Having said that, maybe you should watch gameplays of some exclusives and popular games to see if you like them, it's a bad feeling to buy a console just because and then realize you don't really feel like playing any of the available games.

I have a switch lite and what i like about it is that its not clunky as the steam deck i bump that thing everywhere. Although i got my switch lite used for about 150€. The biggest problem is that jewtendo are fucking greedy and tendies always discuck jewtendo for their retard decision so i don't think the games are going to get cheaper anytime soon (or at all in fact).

About the price of games, it's worth saying to @TotalFoidGrape that usually the games that never get cheaper are the ones developed by Nintendo, but Nintendo-published and third party games gets lots of sales on the digital shop. Also, if he focus on buying only physical games, the switch is the best console to do that currently, and physical games can always be resold.

Get an Ayn Thor instead

If you like Nintendo exclusives then it's a no brainer

Get it modded and download all games for free, Nintendo is the biggest fraud for charging 60 usd for old games, they never drop prices for their first party games, just pirate all of their games. You can get a switch oled and mod it

switch 1 isn't worth it imo. save up more until duskbloods comes out and if that's good maybe consider getting switch 2.

I think OLED newer versions need modchip, early versions can be easily softmodded

Not that modchips are a big thing, but most need that done by someone

What games do you like/want to play ?

Only a Switch 2 imo. The first console will likely stop getting constant support after this year and most of the cool third party titles like modern Resident Evil or FF7 are on the NS2. However it's true that the first party exclusives are atm a bit weak, but more will likely get announced around the next direct. It can also play pretty much any Switch 1 game thanks to backwards compatibility or digital store so those cartridges don't end up useless either and you can buy them anyway. Not to mention the performance gap is honestly quite huge.

Yes I got mine done by some dude, I paid like 100 USD , it's totally worth it because most games cost 60 dollars, and on top of that you can run emulators and Linux with a modded switch

i think that if u are getting a handheld get a steam deck or one of those asus ones

if u have money then just get a PS5 or if u have even more money a gaming pc

imo a gaming pc was the best buy i made and use it the most for not only
games but work etc

Nintendo games over expensive
Ricefags are scumbags

Only if you can get a v1 switch. It's not worth it without CFW.

No, just emulate switch games and wait for a switch 2 emulator. The only reason to buy it would be for online games like smash bros or mario kart

Look at the game library first, then decide.
I only play Minecraft, Mega man games, and SSBU on it, and I find amusement from just these games. The excllusives aren't all that good except for smash bros, but that just my opinion.

No just buy a steam deck pretty much can use it as a computer

switch2 or cope.
significantly less load times, better graphics and you can scroll the eshop with 0 lags.

the joycons are a lot more responsive for boxing games like miku boxing
