It is a satisfying game because it has a good sense of progression and accomplishment :feelsokman:

There is also a large varity of weapon types and armors. It is good for lootgoblincels :feelsokman:

You start out as a nobody, you hire some peasants, and you try to survive in a harsh world ridden by war. Eventually, you get better, you get more money, you can afford better troops and better gear. You do quests for villagers and lords, you get reputation, you eventually get mercenary contracts, you become a vassal, you get to own villages and castles, and you get deeper into the politics of the world.

Something I really like is that you don't feel like the main character. The factions in the game declare war and peach on each other in the background. They fight each other. They take over other faction's settlements. They loot villages. If you like a certain faction, you can join them and follow their army going around on the map, joining their battles and helping them.

You can also get married with a woman, which is lifefuel :feelscomfy: I've dreamed since middle school of having a beautiful affectionate wife. Unfortunately, it will never happen to me in real life :cryfeels: But the game is a good power fantasy.

I have sworn my allegiance to the Kingdom of Vaegirs :feelsEhh: They are inspired by Russia / slavs, and they are the closest equivalent to my own country, Romania :feelsokman:

Currently playing Mount & Blade: Warband, and it is lifefuel because there is also a newer game called Mount & Blade: Bannerlord, who supposedly is even better and expands upon the older game with more features and systems.

I think I'm going to buy it now. Usually, I pirate games. But I really like this series. It's been a long time since I found a video game that made me obsessed with it.

Warband is also 75% discounted, I purchased it on Steam for 4.99 EUR :feelsokman:

Also, I didn't mention that the game also has a real-time combat part. You feel like a true general, because you can give orders to the various types of troops (infrantry, ranged, cavalry).

As my strategy, I like to have my ranged units slowly approach the enemies to start shooting at them. Then I charge with the cavalary and infantry from the side :feelsdevil:

Might finally propely play it bro

played alot of bannerlord need to play warbands sometime but doubt i can get used to lower scale battles

Last I played was the Warsails update. There was this pretty awesome mod if you enjoy roleplaying which allows you to literally talk to NPCs linked to an AI character of them and i remember lying to a lord his daughter died in some random village and he actually went to that village to "check". I forgot the name it was something like AIInfluence mod

Yeah played bannerlord and warband way back in the day

Believe or not I still haven't played bannerlord despite having played the original game in 2008 back when it came out. Is it worth getting into?

Nice that you have found a nice cope, man. :feelsokman:

I bought bannerlord today on steam

This is precisely why I wanted to start with the older one, so that the newer one would feel like an upgrade by comparison :feelshmm:

I intend to play vanilla without mods, but I want to marry a beautiful woman, it is very important for me to be able to marry in video games, it's the closest thing I will ever get :cryfeels:

I haven't played it yet either, but from what I've read, the game launched with quite a few issues, but over time it received several updates and it is in a much better place.

I've decided against purchasing it. I was willing to pay 20 EUR for it, but you also need to purchase the DLC for the full experience, and it is too much. I will pirate it :feelsdevil:

yeah was looking forward dlc but its too overpriced, if they actually cared about the game they would add this content for free but devs are fags and take ages to do anything.

One of my favorite games
:feelscomfy:

Ok, so I've officially become a vassal for the Vaegirs, and I received my first village :feelsLightsaber: Unfortunately, it is a far away village with very poor economy, right at the border with the enemy, Khergit Khanate, and it gets constantly looted and raided.

We are also war with the Sarranid Sultanate and Kingdom of Rhodoks. They both came from the other side of the map just to raid my shitty little village, I haven't made a single dime from it :fuk:

This is bullshit! Our king got captured and we are getting destroyed in all 3 fronts. Not good for me!

I asked ChatGPT what to do, and he told me to buy an enterprise. TIL you can get enterprises. I'm, bleeding money over here, I will go buy an enterprise

One of the better games imo, or at least the most unique. Def try the Diplomacy mod for Warband.

Personally I do think Bannerlord is a step up, at least for the parts of the game I play the most (fighting, sieging) but ymmv.
Wish it had competent devs, it could be so much more with any decent rpg elements or more strategic depth, city building. etc etc.

There's a mod for it too IIRC which couples it with Crusader Kings. You can play that and then when a battle starts it boots up Warband (or Bannerlord, I forget which it was as I never got it working).
