Empathy is evolutionarily advantageous because it allows you manipulate people by understanding their innermost emotions and motivations, so it should come as no surprise that women are highly empathetic.

Yes, females are actually more empathetic, even with respect to incels. Both women and psychopaths dedicate high cognitive energy into reading other people and then manipulating them, although psychopaths don't emotionally care about those (namely, children) who are weaker than them, whereas women as a rule do.

In seriousness, the fact that autists lack cognitive empathy is an aggregate fact, that doesn't apply to every individual in absolute terms. The rule is that autism means less empathy than average, and less interest in other people, and more systemizing abilities, and more interest in understanding objects (which can come to include other people, if you develop co-morbid narcissism and a taste for manipulation).

Its a skill I had to learn begrudgingly. Still not good at it.

They are not very empathetic, and would eat your body without any emotional qualms if you died. Also, I notice that my cat is very routine-oriented, and becomes disaffected if it's usual activities are disturbed. It has been LDARing for many years now.

In the past, yes, but as it's become older it has remained domesticated and adopted a noticeably rotter-autist lifestyle. In high school, I used to outright envy the fact that my cat could LDAR all day, and this is no coincidence, tbh.

I think when you guys talk about empathy the image that comes to a NT mind is that of a mix of these two characteristics, therefore the confusion of non autistic users with the things said by OP.

My cat was quite active outdoors from when I got him age 1 right up until about 9. He disappeared for 3 days sometimes. He ldar'd from 9 until his passing at 13.5 this year.

When an NT thinks about empathy, he fixates on nonverbal communication and how it reveals one's innermost feelings.

Autists do not nonverbally communicate much if at all, nor pay much attention to the nonverbal communication of others. Hence our marked lack of (cognitive) empathy, and for the purposes of normgroids, empathy in general, since all they care about is exterior facades.

I have pointed out in the past how when normgroids encounter autists with lack of emotional affect and monotone voices, they outright assume that we are callous, and may sometimes even like us for it. This is where Dark Triad Maxxing becomes a viable strategy.

It takes autists longer to figure out how to empathize, but once they learn they're more likely to sympathize as well.
